Dear friends, prospective students.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Kharkiv State Academy of Culture. Originally established in 1929, it is the oldest institution of higher education of this type in Ukraine. The Academy's unique feature is a combination of disciplines in the humanities, technology and the arts under one roof: library & information science, museum studies, journalism, management, tourism, cultural studies, music, choreography, theatre and television. This makes it possible to carry out an interdisciplinary approach to research and education, developing analytical and creative potential of students.
The Academy is located In the historical centre of Kharkiv, in the very heart of this city with its vibrant cultural and artistic life museums, theatres, picture galleries, which creates an aura of spirituality, fine traditions and artistic inspiration.
Among our faculty members are well-known musicians, actors, theatre directors, choreographers, specialists in library, information and computer science. The achievements of the Academy's scientific school of culturology are highly valued in Ukraine and beyond. We are proud of our student music ensembles, folk and contemporary dance theatres, student drama theatre. They regularly take part in and often become prize winners of many national and international contests and festivals.
Our bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes prepare students for a wide range of activities in libraries and book trade, entertainment industry, hospitality sector, economy, education, the arts and cultural sector. All our curricula comprise a compulsory practical term or training in cooperation with cultural institutions, businesses, travel agencies (in Ukraine and abroad).
