The Department, founded in 1964 by Ukrainian composer and teacher, Associate Professor Oleksandr Zhuk (1907 - 1996), is proud of the names of true professionals. The Department includes leading pianists of Kharkiv, musicologists, who constantly carry out pedagogical, scientific, methodical, creative and performing work. Among them: Honored Artist of Ukraine, Professor, Head of Department Oleksandr Skliarov, Doctor of Art Criticism, Associate Professor Natalia Riabukha, Candidate of Art Criticism, Associate Professor Natalia Zymohliad, Candidate of Art Criticism, Associate Professor Alla Rumiantseva, Candidate of Art Criticism, Associate Professor Vasyl Shchepakin, Senior Lecturer Olesia Stepanova.
