Faculty of Performing Arts was established in 2003. based on organized in 1997 Director and choreographic faculty as a result of the reorganization of the faculty of folk art. Today, the main faculty is three departments - directing, the skill of the actor, the department of music and drama theater.

All departments are headed by well-known both in Ukraine and abroad specialists. Department of Directing - candidate of art history, laureate of international theater festivals O. YU. Lachko, Department of Actor's Mastery - candidate of art history V. D. Mizyak and the Department of Music and Drama Theater - honored artist of Ukraine, associate professor L. V. Kudrich.
The Faculty of Performing Arts trains specialists in the field of 026 performing arts in full-time and part-time forms of study in three specializations: "Directing shows and art projects", "Acting art of drama theater and cinema" and "Acting art of music and drama theater".
Since its creation, the Faculty of Performing Arts has been implementing requirements aimed at attracting the best specialists in the field of performing arts to solve non-standard creative and pedagogical educational problems at the level of international standards, specialists with artistic activities who have certain achievements in their field.
The concept of the educational process provides a system of multi-stage education in Ukraine in accordance with the Bologna Convention, which allows adapting domestic education to modern European schools. The original model of the organization of the educational process as a result of both theoretical and large practical component. Classes are held at the Academy and at the best production sites of theaters of Kharkov. In addition, the staff of the department have the opportunity to introduce new courses within the block "Professional-oriented disciplines," which contribute to the study of future specialists of new specialty disciplines.
The Faculty of Performing Arts is the leading in the field of training specialists of performing arts in institutions of higher education of culture and arts of Ukraine. About the constant career guidance work, the number of entrants increases every year, the demand for specialists of this level is great.

The faculty has a powerful material and technical base, educational theater (head of the production part - O. S. Shulga, costume designer - O. A. Barvinova).
Creative work is one of the main activities of the faculty. Each department is written by its creative achievements. Successfully works student theater "Academy", artistic director - honored artist of Ukraine, professor S. I. Gordeev, who is a laureate of international theater festivals; experimental workshop of theatrical research "EKMATEDOS" (artistic director - honored artist of Ukraine I. O. Boris), who is a laureate of the All-Ukrainian festivals of stage art "Danapris" (Zaporozhye), "Inspiration", "Ternopil evenings" (Ternopil), a participant in the festival of the best exhibitions of Ukraine. Only in one year of preparation (from 2023) of the Department of Music and Drama Theater, applicants showed a high professional level of combining dramatic actors and musical theater actors.
During the Russian-Ukrainian war, the faculty hosts charity concerts, artistic art projects that recreate the indestructible spirit of the Ukrainian mentality of the people. Among them: a charity concert "KhSAC - Art Project, Victory Together", online events "With Ukraine in the Heart", "The Way Home", dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, "Lost Childhood" - the beginning of an aggressive war against Ukraine, "Wave 19.86" - 38 years of the Chernobyl tragedies and many other events.
A special place in the creative life of the faculty is engaged in the organization of holding and creative competitions that contribute to the next launch pad for applicants of art educational institutions, young actors, supporting talented performers, contributing to their creative and personal formation. Under difficult conditions, for 2022-2024, the faculty continued to work on organizing competitions: "White Lilies of the Valley" (more than 150 participants took part in 2024), Open Distance Festival of Theater Arts "Theater of the Future" (2022), etc.
The Department of Actor's Mastery held numerous scientific events dedicated to modern trends in the development of professional theater with the participation of teachers and applicants, as well as a scientific and practical seminar "The Tragedy of the Mouse", dedicated to the great stage reformer Les Kurbas and the 90th anniversary of dramatic events in the Berezil Theater, "Creativity, fanned by legend", dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of Ukrainian writer Olga Kobylyanskaya, "Romance of the executed Renaissance", dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian poet Nikolai Khvylevoy. Scientific and practical seminar dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the birth of T. G. Shevchenko (March 2024), the interregional festival "Theater of the Future" on the basis of KhSAC (April 2024), the scientific and practical seminar "Search for History in Theater Art", dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Faculty of SM and the Department of Actor's Mastery.
In May 2024, a creative action was held on the occasion of the establishment of the 20th anniversary of the Department of Actor's Skills, entitled "Artist and Time". Decade of the report of creative workshops: V. Mizyak, M, Strunnikova, V. Gorislavets, A. Lebed, S. Fevraleva, L. Kosmina, P. Kuchina, A. Dvoichenkova.
The participation of applicants and teachers in numerous conferences, round tables, creative shows over the past ten years has increased significantly, which leads to the correctness of the chosen advantages in the development of the department and the faculty of performing arts in particular.
